One of the most fearful parts for me about Ron Paul's platform is his desire to eliminate the department of education. While I whole heartedly agree that decisions need to be made at the district and state leveled about how to improve schools. What worries me is the cutting of federal funding. We see just within Colorado disparaging money in different districts. Cutting of federal money will only make that situation worse. We have school districts where each high-school student gets a laptop. Then we have districts where only a few buildings have proper wiring for internet. What will happen if Paul has his way is that this problem will get worse. Because the poorer districts will lose additional funding and fall further behind. Do we really need this?
